Accommodation

Summer is a busy time in the South Island with many people choosing to holiday in the region. Accommodation will be booked up fast, although there should be many options for those wishing to camp. We recommend staying in/near Wanaka for the first three days and then either Cromwell or Alexandra for the last three, although the distances between the towns are such that it would be possible to base yourself in Wanaka for the whole week.

Lake Outlet Holiday Park, Wanaka

Non-powered campsites are available. Mention you are orienteers when you book and you will be placed in the same area.

$16 for adults and $8 for kids.

Travel

If you are flying to the South Island, Queenstown is the closest airport, located one hour drive from Wanaka. However Dunedin and Christchurch are also options, particularly if you decide to extend your holidays a few days either sides of the events.

Orienteering Store

Grassy Knoll Outdoor will be in attendance carrying a selection of orienteering gear. www.grassyknoll.co.nz

Fire Danger

Please note Upper Clutha and Central Otago are currently very dry. There is an extreme fire danger and at all events there is absolutely no smoking or fires allowed.
